Tips: Difference between a bellow valve and a diaphragm valve

A bellow valve and a diaphragm valve are both types of control valves used in various industrial applications, but they differ in their design and operation.

A bellow valve utilizes a flexible metal bellow, which expands and contracts in response to pressure changes. When pressure increases, the bellow compresses, causing the valve to close, and when pressure decreases, the bellow expands, allowing the valve to open. Bellow valves are known for their ability to provide a tight seal and are commonly used in applications requiring high precision and reliability.

A diaphragm valve relies on a flexible diaphragm, usually made of rubber or elastomeric material, to control the flow of fluids. When pressure is applied to the diaphragm, it deforms and obstructs the flow path, closing the valve. Releasing pressure allows the diaphragm to return to its original shape, opening the valve. Diaphragm valves are often preferred for applications where a non-contaminating, zero-leakage solution is required, such as in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
