Tips: DC-DC boost converter basic working principle

The basic working principle of a DC-DC boost converter is to step up a lower DC voltage to a higher DC voltage through switching mode power supply technology. Its core components include an inductor, a switch (usually a MOSFET), a diode and an output capacitor. The following is the basic working process of Boost Converter:

  1. Energy storage stage: When the switch (such as MOSFET) is closed, current passes through the inductor, and the inductor begins to store energy.
  2. Energy release stage: When the switch is turned off, the stored energy in the inductor is released to the output terminal through the diode, increasing the output voltage.

By rapidly switching on and off, the inductor cycles between storing and releasing energy, causing the output voltage to be higher than the input voltage.
